King’s Quarter wins Best Long-Term Regeneration Initiative Award at Revo’s 2025

King’s Quarter has been announced as the winner of the Best Long-Term Regeneration Initiative at this year’s Revo’s, an annual celebration hosted by Revo, the UK’s leading membership organisation focused on retail and leisure-led real estate. The awards showcase excellence, innovation, and achievement within the sector.

The Revo’s are widely regarded as the benchmark for excellence in the retail property industry, championing the most innovative and impactful contributions across the UK. For nearly 40 years, the annual awards have showcased the best in development, investment, asset management, operations, customer experience, and destination marketing in the sector.

The Revo Golds are one of the most prestigious in the industry and celebrate the best-in-class retail and leisure developments.

Following deliberation from the judging panel, King’s Quarter was ultimately named the winner for the Best Long-Term Regeneration Initiative award, which recognises creatively redefined existing assets, demonstrating clear strategy and delivery, with measurable outcomes such as financial performance, footfall growth, or positive tenant and consumer feedback.

King’s Quarter is part of a £200m regeneration of Gloucester city centre, comprising The Forum, Kings Square, King’s Walk Shopping Centre and the Gloucester Transport Hub. Selected for the outstanding long-term regeneration of a redundant department store, reimagined as a vibrant university hub bringing up to 19,000 students to the students to the city centre, alongside vibrant and high quality workspace at the Forum, the judges recognised the significant social and economic benefits of the project, and how King’s Quarter can act as a blueprint for making town centre’s resilient, relevant and successful.

Vivienne King, Chair of the Executive Board at Revo, commented: “The annual Revo’s once again highlighted the outstanding achievements taking place across the sector, with a strong turnout from leading professionals, organisations, and innovators.  King’s Quarter is a fantastic example of how bold, creative thinking can act as a model to encourage local authorities to back their places with confidence and vision, and is a testament to the efforts of an exceptional team. Many congratulations on this huge success, and to the other shortlisted nominees for their brilliant work in our sector.”

Jeremy Hilton, leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “This is more wonderful news to celebrate about Gloucester. Winning this highly prestigious award is a huge achievement and a testament to the vision and hard work behind King’s Quarter and the Forum. To come out on top against major national projects like Wembley Park shows just how ambitious and transformative this development has been for our city. We’re proud to see Gloucester recognised on a national stage.”

The Revo’s follow a highly successful year for the UK’s leading membership organisation, marked by a major governance restructure and the appointment of new strategic board members, as well as a series of industry events including its forward thinking insight report, The Forces Driving Retail and Leisure Places in 2034 and the coveted Shaping Tomorrow’s Places conference.
