Gloucester city centre apartments at The Forum bring home South West property award
The stylish apartments at Whitefriars, which sit at the heart of The Forum development, have won a prestigious property award.
The contemporary one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, which feature the first private resident’s roof garden in Gloucester, have been named ‘Small Residential Development of the Year’ at the Insider South West Residential Property Awards (Thursday, April 18, 2024).
Brought forward by Gloucester City Council and its partner Reef Group, Whitefriars offers impressive views of Gloucester Cathedral and the wider cityscape. The apartments are designed to minimise energy use, with air source heat pumps, low energy light fittings, and sustainable materials.
Peter Langly-Smith, development director at Reef Group, said: “This award is testament to the hard work of all involved with Whitefriars, and we’d like to thank construction company E G Carter & Co for completing the building to such a high standard, as well as the agents at Savills and Knight Frank.
“Whitefriars offers premium living space in the heart of this vibrant city, which is only set to be enhanced further by the completion of the office and leisure facilities at The Forum later this year.”
All the 19 apartments of phase 1 have now been sold at the award-winning city centre address, where sustainable travel is promoted, with the site located close to Gloucester’s transport hub, and two secure cycle spaces offered per apartment.
Whitefriars is the residential offering of The Forum, a £107m mixed-use development creating a new digital quarter in the heart of Gloucester. As well as premium office space, it will be home to retail space, restaurants, Hotel Indigo (IHG Hotels) and a rooftop bar.
The location of Whitefriars was a draw for many residents, the site within walking distance to many of Gloucester’s amenities and facilities, such as the Heritage Quarter, the docks and quay, and numerous shopping centres.
Kings Square, with its elegant fountains and artistic lighting, is adjacent to the site, which will also be home to University of Gloucestershire’s City Campus. The phased opening of City Campus will begin in late 2024.
